# Checking Bandwidth with iPerf3

[Download the latest iPerf3 for Windows](https://github.com/ar51an/iperf3-win-builds/releases/download/3.21/iperf-3.21-win64.zip)

Extract the files and copy them to your server and to a client.

## The Server
Add a firewall rule to allow iPerf3.exe

> New-NetFirewallRule -DisplayName "iPerf3" 
    -Direction Inbound 
    -Program "C:\iperf3.exe" 
    -Action Allow 
    -Profile Domain,Private,Public

or

> Open Windows Firewall Manager
> 
> Right click Inbound Rules -> New Rule -> Program -> Browse -> Browse to the iPerf exe -> Allow the connection -> All profiles -> Name it iPerf

Open a terminal in the iPerf directory and run:

> .\iperf3.exe -s

## The Client

Open a terminal in the iPerf directory and run:

> .\iperf3.exe -c \<server-ip-address>
